I strongly believe that sleep is the number ONE contributor to having a healthy and happy family.

There is a defined link between chronic sleep deprivation and postpartum depression or “the baby blues.” Most mothers report a dramatic improvement in their moods (and their baby’s!) once the family is sleeping well.

Study after study has shown that a good night’s sleep is just as important for your baby as proper nutrition. We’d never raise our children on a diet junk food, nor should we raise them on “junk sleep.”

Your baby has unique sleep habits and a unique personality. You have your own parenting style. The “magic” happens when we create an approach that’s right for your baby and that you can feel good about as a parent.

If you decide to sleep train your child you have to be sure who you will be giving this responsibility to! Sleep is SERIOUS! I’ve invested heavily in my career as a sleep professional. I’ve trained under one of the most well-respected experts in the field and am proud to be a Certified Sleep Sense™ Consultant.

My approach to improving your child’s sleep is simple:

  1. I’ll give you honest information about WHY sleep is so important for your child’s well-being. (This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits.)
  2. I’ll lay out an easy-to-follow, step-by-step plan that lets you make some choices about what the right approach for your child is. (All children are different, and nobody knows your child better than you do)
  3. Show you how to measure success. (No, you shouldn’t expect your child to sleep 12 uninterrupted hours on the first night — although it does happen! I’ll tell you what you should expect along the way…)

WILL YOU HAVE MY CHILD “CRY IT OUT?”

This is a common question. Crying is your child’s way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. That’s why I’m always sure to tell parents that my program will most likely involve at least some amount of protest on their child’s part.

However, I will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone, nor will I ask you to ignore their cries. The reason that the Sleep Sense Method is so effective is that it lets you develop a plan that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child.
